India’s vaccination coverage crosses 43 crore

A total of 51,18,210 vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours.

In a landmark for Covid-19 vaccination, under India’s National Vaccination Drive, the COVID-19 vaccination coverage crossed 43 crore vaccine doses on Saturday.

Cumulatively, 43,31,50,864 vaccine doses have been administered through 52,72,431 sessions, a statement from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said. The new phase of universalization of COVID-19 vaccination commenced from 21 June.

“The Union Government is committed to accelerating the pace and expanding the scope of COVID-19 vaccination throughout the country,” the ministry said. Out of the people infected since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 3,05,43,138 total recoveries across the country so far; 39,972 patients recovered during the last 24 hours.

This constitutes an overall recovery rate of 97.36%. Meanwhile, the country reported 39,742 new cases in the last 24 hours. India`s Active Caseload currently at 4,08,212 and active cases now constitute only 1.30% of total cases.

With substantially ramped up testing capacity across the country, cumulatively, India has conducted over 45.62 crore tests so far. While on one side testing capacity has been enhanced across the country, the Weekly Positivity Rate remains below 5 percent, currently at 2.24% and the Daily Positivity rate stands at 2.31%. It is less than 3 percent for 34 consecutive days
